Fil-Am tennister Treat Huey, Mirnyi advance to Miami Open Men’s Doubles semifinals

Filipino-American tennis player Treat Conrad Huey and his partner Max Mirnyi of
Belarus advanced to the semifinals of the 2016 Miami Open Men’s Doubles after defeating
the American tandem of John Isner and Nicholas Monroe in two sets (6-1, 7-5).
“It was a really good win today in the quarterfinals, Max and I are really excited
to make the semifinals, and we’re excited for the match tomorrow night.” Huey told
ABS-CBN’s Dyan Castillejo.
Huey and Mirnyi have been pretty solid in their Miami Open campaign, getting past
Americans Eric Butorac and Scott Lipsky in two sets in the first round, before sending
the pair of Croatia’s Ivan Dodig and Brazil’s Marcelo Melo home in the second round.
Up next for Huey and Mirnyi is the pair of South Africa’s Raven Klaasen and American
Rajeev Ram. The winner advances into the finals.
“It’ll be a tough match for sure, I think they’re just a couple of spots ahead of
us in the rankings, so yeah, we’re definitely the underdogs, but Max and I have
been playing well in the last few weeks so we’ve been really on a roll, and we won
Acapulco and Mexico, a big ATP 500 a few weeks ago.”
In the other semifinal bracket, the French pair of Pierre-Hughes Herbert and Nicolas
Mahut take on the Bryan Brothers, Bob and Mike, from the United States.
