PH hosts Indonesia in Davis Cup Group II
The Philippines will host the first round of Davis Cup against Indonesia in the
Asia-Oceania Group II zone on Feb. 3 to 5.
The Philippine Tennis Association said the tie will be held at the Philippine Columbian
Association in Paco, Manila. With its clay courts, the hosts are hoping that it
will give the country an advantage over Indonesia.
A victory would propel the Philippines to the semifinal round in April. A win here
will secure a place in the final and a slot in Group I.
Indonesia is said to be the favorite, having won six of its 10 ties with the Philippines,
including victories in 2000 and 2012.
The Filipinos, however, are determined to end that misfortune and follow up their
last tie win in 1999.
World-class doubles specialist Treat Huey is expected to lead the local team.
