Huey, partner begin campaign in US tilt
Filipino Treat Huey and Belarusian Max Mirnyi will open their campaign against Jeremy
Chardy of France and David Goffin of Belgium in the Western and Southern Open being
held at the Deco Turf in Cincinnati, US.
The winner between Huey-Mirnyi and Chardy-Goffin game will advance to the second
round against seventh seeds Rohan Bopanna of India and Florin Mergea of Romania,
who earned an opening-round bye.
Huey and Miryi have been playing well in the recent tournaments.
They reached the semifinals of the Wimbledon Championship in London in July then
had quarterfinals stint in the Australian Open in January.
The duo also made it to the Last 16 of the French Open in June.
Huey and Mirnyi aim to win their second title as partners after winning their first
in Acapulco, Mexico in February.
The 30-year-old Huey moved up to No. 19 in the world doubles ranking—14 notches
higher than his season-ending position in 2015.
He actually reached as high as 18th in the July ranking released by the Association
of Tennis Professionals (ATP).
After the Cincinnati tournament, Huey and Mirnyi will be playing in a couple of
ATP World Tour events before going to New York for the 2016 US Open.
